A lot of us ended up taking off a good part of last year from our self care needs, understandably. But it’s time we jump back in and get back on track. I for one am big into New Year’s Resolutions. I like a clean slate and there is something about a New Year that allows me to be able to have a fresh start. But at the same time, if I fall off the wagon, a Monday has the same effect as a New Year so it’s never too late.. After the year we had last year, I set my personal goals pretty low. So here we are in February, with Spring around the corner and I want to share the things I am doing to make sure I am taking care of me.
Keeping New Year’s Resolutions
Healthy Eating

Back in December I started working with a macro coach. I wanted to get back on track with eating foods that fuel my body. I was in a perpetual cycle of eating what’s quick or convenient but not paying attention to nutrients that our bodies and mind need to perform at their best. This was in turn making me tired, lethargic and low energy with so much brain fog. Since I switched up my eating habits I have noticed such a change in everything from my workouts to everyday life.
Now don’t get me wrong I still try to find all the ways of spending the least amount of time in the kitchen so always on the hunt for foods that are nutrient dense and convenient. And the best part about eating like this is, nothing is off the table. No food groups are ruled out.
But back in the late 80s when food allergies were kind of unheard of, I was diagnosed with a lactose intolerance. And even though I have since grown out of it, I do tend to try to limit consumption. FAGE to the rescue. FAGE’s new BestSelf yogurt brings you delicious, creamy Greek yogurt with 100% natural ingredients to support me on this journey — it’s made with real dairy but without the lactose! BestSelf is a delicious lactose-free Greek yogurt option for everyone — whether you have a lactose sensitivity or simply want a satisfying snack to power through your busy day. Makes the perfect snack for the kids too!
I am not about to sacrifice taste and quality for nutrition and thanks to FAGE we don’t have to. There are so many ways to enjoy FAGE BestSelf. Plain varieties are perfect for yogurt bowls and recipes, while blended varieties are delicious on the go or with a few of your favorite toppings!
Remember my three ingredient protein bagel you all loved so much? Well, I tried it with FAGE BestSelf and it turned out beautifully. Check it out here. Add eggs and bacon for a healthy, high protein breakfast sandwich that’s easy to make at home and lactose free.

Quiet Time
This is something I need pretty frequently. Having a spouse that now works from home and kids in and out of school makes finding this quiet time pretty difficult. But it is something that helps tremendously. It allows me to clear my mind and freshen up my outlook. I know finding this time can be difficult. Here are a few ways for me to carve out quiet time.
-Drive time. Taking the long way to the stores or gym. Rolling windows down and getting fresh air while letting my mind rest is good for the soul.
-Walks in the neighborhood. Grabbing the dog and going. Leaving the phone at home and getting lost nearby.
– Waking up before the kids and starting the morning off with stretching and meditation. This is easier said than done because I am not a morning person. But when I do it, I never regret it.
– Putting a movie on for the kids, and grabbing my favorite FAGE BestSelf Greek yogurt and going and hiding in my room so I can eat in quiet without sharing.
More Water Less Wine
Please don’t kick me out of the mom club for this, but I am replacing my night cap with water and hot tea. I even had a friend over recently and instead of offering her a glass of wine, I offered her tea and she didn’t leave. We still hung out and chatted and it was wonderful. But I know how important hydration is to overall health and I want to make sure I am not undoing all this hard work with my nightcap. LIkewise, in the am before my coffee I am chugging a large glass of lemon water.
Move More
Finding a way to move my body daily, whether it’s just a walk or it’s an hour at the gym, has been a game changer for both my mind and body. Finding something you love is key to sticking to it. If you remember, I bought a certain indoor cycling bike that I sold shortly afterwards because I don’t like working out at home. I like the gym and I like my friends at the gym. I never dread going to the gym. So this works for me and keeps me coming back. Thankful
