I think we can all agree, mommying is hard. But this girl-mom stuff isn’t for the faint of heart. In modern-day motherhood, I am teaching my girls that we no longer sit around waiting for the knight in shining armor, but instead we are the knight-ress (is that a thing?) in shining armor. Luckily there’s Rescue Hero toys.
I have a love-hate relationship with social media and the internet. Right when I want to turn it all off and pretend like it’s 1999, I read about the everyday hero. The ones we pass daily at the supermarket, or in line at the DMV. How they made a decision to do the right thing, serve others, and save someone’s life in the meantime. They are the real MVPs. And I want my girls to know that we are all capable of making a difference in the world.
Unfortunately, it is hard for my girls to understand the amazing things everyday people do when we are sitting around watching the news, because they lose interest. But thanks to their love for the Rescue Heroes™ episodes on The Fisher-Price YouTube Channel, I am able to speak their language.
Why we Love Rescue Heroes Toys
The Fisher-Price® Rescue Heroes® toys characters are a global team of larger-than-life emergency responders who work together to combat disasters whenever or wherever they happen. Team members are best-in-class specialists in their fields, each with their own knowledge, skills, and futuristic, over-the-top tools that let them handle disastrous situations better than anyone. They demonstrate the power of teamwork on every rescue mission by working together and doing their part to help save the day. From their Mobile Action Rescue Center, the Rescue Heroes monitor the planet and assemble specially equipped teams to tackle threats as soon as they arise. When disaster strikes, they’re the first on the scene, and there’s never a problem they can’t solve together.
The Rescue Heroes® toys product line aims to stimulate a child’s imagination and sense of adventure through fun, action-packed play! It lets kids take direct and positive actions against natural and manmade disasters, giving them the ability to take control of out-of-control situations safely and confidently. Natural disasters are caused by forces of nature, like earthquakes, landslides, tornadoes, and floods. Manmade disasters are caused by accidents and byproducts of human ignorance. Like an oil tanker spill or toxic pollution from faceless factories or corporations, there are no villains or ill will; and all problems are correctable or preventable with education. Things that are drawn from modern problems and real-world concerns.
Modern causes and real-world issues are presented in an age-appropriate manner. In addition to their daring rescues, the Rescue Heroes characters encounter, identify and celebrate relatable “everyday heroes” in their communities. It’s like having those hard talks, without having those hard talks. Our babies will leave watching the show saying, I can do that too!
Men, women, different nationalities, professions, and personalities give everyone someone we can relate to. Making them ideal personifications of real-world heroes. How each character works together to solve these problems shows our kids that regardless of our differences, we are stronger together than we are apart. Plus, all the parts are interchangeable so characters can share.
So we wanted to introduce you to our current favorite Rescue Heroes Toys Cadet:
- Sandy O’Shin
- Irish Female, 21
- Catchphrase: Shreddin’ the seas like a breeze™!
With it being summertime and us living in the water, Brooklyn instantly wanted to team up with Sandy O’Shin to help keep our beautiful waters clean. The girls love it when we assign them jobs and responsibilities and she takes these jobs so seriously. She has made it a point to help keep the pool and grounds clean every time we go down.
Not only does she just help pick up trash, but she has really taken an interest in recycling. We keep bags in the car for trash and recycling so she’s ready for what she finds along the way. She knows how important it is that we all need to pitch in to help keep things nice.
This is just one of the 7 amazing characters form the Fisher-Price® Rescue Heroes® toys line that you need to introduce your kids to. Next time you are online or in-store at Walmart, pick up a favorite character that your child can relate to. Then tune in to the show on YouTube, so they can see that you don’t have to wear a cape to make a difference.

My son LOVED the first version of Rescue Heroes over 15-years ago. Billy Blazes, Wendy Waters, and at least a dozen others, plus their vehicles and accessories are all hanging out in a giant tub waiting to be loved by the next generation.
