If you have taken a wander through Target’s home section recently you have probably noticed an increase in rattan cane home decor. Before Joanna gets credit for this trend and it takes over the world, I want to introduce you all the the ever so coveted Cesca Cane Chair.
I’ve been eyeing these Cesca dining chairs for quite a while. But it wasn’t until I kept seeing them pop up across Instagram and Pinterest that I decided it wasn’t just me wanting to transition all things to 1970s but they are actually beautiful and classic. If you aren’t familiar with these chairs in your present day life you can try to remember weekends at your grandparents house as a small kid. Because everyone I show them too has that as their initial response. #nastalgia
“among the 10 most important chairs of the 20th century.”

Originally these chairs were going to be used as part of my dining room redo that hasn’t even started. In a perfect world I would LOVE to find 8 vintage original Cesca Chairs, 2 with arms, 6 without but without having to refinance the house or sell a kidney that wasn’t going to be an option. 8 chairs are expensive. 8 chairs that are vintage and in good shape are even more expenive.

It wasn’t until I decided that I was going to flip my guest room into my office and studio that I realized this is how I would finally get my chairs. This space is 100% mine so I wanted to fill it with all the things I love. So I decided to use these as my desk/workspace chairs. This would allow my to only purchase 2 to start out with.

Most Affordable Cesca Chair
- Scandinavian Designs: $99-$119 depending on whether you want arms makes them the most affordable per chair. Unfortunately their shipping was outrageous since I dont have a store near me. So if you all could open a location in Nashville I would be so happy.
Most Customizable Cesca Chair
- Seats and Stools: This is actually where I ordered mine from because my go-to’s like Wayfair didn’t have them in stock at the time. I loved that you can get both chrome and brass bases and then from there you can build your own to match anything. Combining cane with leather and colors galore as well as piping. After shipping I paid around $165/chair.

There are also a ton of other Cesca chair replica versions that have a similar vibe and style but a little different. So I will share alternatives here too because options are fun! My most favorite and more modern is the CB2 version and I also found a white version of that same style on AllModern. I try to shop at places with free shipping because it makes such a difference.
Cesca Chair Replica Options

Hey, Hope you’re doing great!
I have been obsessed with the cesca chairs since childhood — my great aunt had the originals in her kitchen dining — and now that I have my own place, I want them! I obviously cannot afford the originals and had been looking at the Scandinavian Design ones *put you’re right – shipping cost is outrageous*
Seeing that you’ve had yours for a while now, how would you rate the quality of the Seats and Stools version? Also, did you get the natural color or the honey oak?
By the way, your office redo is gorgeous!!
Thanks!
