“The days are long but the years are short.”
I have partnered with TruMoo to bring you a nightly routine that will make you excited about bedtime.
I’m pretty sure every mother heard this from an elder after bringing home that sweet bundle of joy. And while we can totally see where they are coming from, while in the middle of these days that never end, it is not comforting enough. Sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands and figure out ways to make these unbearably long days better. We might as well use all this time to our advantage right?
So many nights sitting there exhausted on the couch and thinking about how I needed to drag myself to bed, but then thought well she’s just going to wake up again I might as well watch one more show on Netflix. Before you know it, you’ve rewatched the whole Friends series AGAIN.
Exhaustion in mothers is something caused by our children of course but also self imposed. I am so guilty of staying up late because it’s the only silence I have during the day. Especially now that my children don’t nap, I know that if I don’t soak up every last ounce of this silence, even knowing how bad I am going to regret it in the morning, that I will never make it through the day.
My twenties were filled with the loudest possible concerts, bars, and sports arenas. But somewhere in the midst of motherhood noise has gotten too much for me to handle daily. I know one day I will miss the constant “moms” that are screamed at me ALL DAY LONG. But right now I need a momcation from those noises. Until that trust fund I don’t know about or the lottery winnings I’ve never played show up, a daily vacation isn’t going to happen so I have come up with a evening routine that helps me reset each day and go to bed with a happy and thankful heart ready to do it all again tomorrow.
Did I also mention that I completely lost my mind and decided to do a Dry January? What is a Dry January you might ask? Well it’s where you trade in your #momjuice for something less calming. So my nightly reset with be done sans booze. No big deal! I’m fine.

Evening Routine for Mom:
Comfortable Clothing
Nothing should be restricting or uncomfortable. Also needs to be soft and warm. And not revealing that way hubs doesn’t get any ideas that could make for a non-relaxing evening routine.

Grab A Face Mask Out of the Fridge
Face masks bring me life. A cold face mask is even more amazing than it sounds. Swelling from the daily cries of defeation are whisked away.
Netflix Show
After hours upon hours of listening to people play with toys or “Baby Shark” you get to choose momma. I highly recommend The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or Tidying Up. Those are my two favorites now.
Finish the Night with Gossip Mag or Book
Going to bed right after binge watching shows makes it so hard to fall asleep. A quick 15-30 minute read will get you ready to snooze.
