My Experience with Lip Injections

Have you been wanting lip injections and too scared to pull the trigger?

Yep, that was me for YEARS. My husband used to show me pictures on the internet of what could go wrong. This only added to my anxiety. If you have been following along for a while you probably know that the my beauty regimen is based on how I can be ready to leave the house with the least amount of work.

My eyebrows were done HERE so that I didn’t have to color them in and to try to avoid Botox. Spoiler alert, that was only a band-aid. I ended up opening Pandora’s box and getting Botox which was the best decision, EVER.
I recently went into my favorite Nashville hair salon begging Jossy to take me back brown, I couldn’t keep up with the blonde anymore.
These press on nails stay for weeks and I avoid salon.
I spray tan because everything looks better with a tan.
Using amazing skin care to avoid having to apply a face.
lash serum is used nightly bc I can’t imagine having to do eyelash extensions every couple of weeks.

After trying every long wearing lipstick known to man it was time. Yep even the stuff that feels like gasoline on my lips. I also would draw outside of my lip line to create the illusion of bigger lips. It was so obvious. I finally sat hubs down for a heart to heart. It was time and I needed him to be on board. Now you are probably thinking why not just go do it and why does he need to approve. He doesn’t, but he has a book titled “I Told You So” with plenty of material to take to a publisher without me doing things I already know can turn out bad. Well guess what, he was on board and he said “Happy Mothers Day.” Yep I started writing this post back in May.

Finding the Perfect Doctor

I did what any sane person would do, I went to the internet for suggestions. I wanted to know who to use and who not to use. Local Facebook groups were good for this as well as friends and just asking you guys. So I called up Glow MedSpa and made my appointment. I went in blindly because I knew the Master Injector, Tonia would know what I needed and how much I needed. I have actually switched over all services to Glow MedSpa because they are my favorite humans ever and know their stuff when it comes to helping me look like the best version of myself.

Hubs came with me for my appointment. I got there early to put some numbing cream on my lips and then chatted about what I was looking to accomplish. I actually went in for JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA^® XC because I wanted to start out small knowing I can always add later. But after talking with Master Injector, Tonia she knew quickly I was more of a go big or go home type and I wouldn’t be happy with those results. I am so glad I listened to her. We ended up doing one syringe of JUVÉDERM VOLLURE^™ XC but will do JUVÉDERM^® Ultra XC next because I def want more volume.

Does it hurt? Nope the actual process of getting it done didn’t hurt at all. Microblading was more painful for sure. But that night and the next day was pretty painful. I had quite a bit of swelling which Tonia warned me was going to happen and of course I still messaged her in the middle of the night freaking out. haha. You can see at the end of the video my progress over a couple of days. She also said I would miss 24-48 hour lips and guess what I totally do. Remember, I’m a go big or go home type.

Typical Questions

How long does it last? Vollure is the newest of the group and results can last up to 18 months according to Juvederm’s website. I’m 8 months in and ready to go back for more though.

What all was accomplished? Lines and wrinkles from lips lessened and volume was added.

How much does it cost? Varies from place to place. Are results with JUVÉDERM VOLLURE immediate? Yep, but you will have swelling so final lip takes around 3-7 days to see.
