I shared my holiday home tour post before I showed you the complete living room transformation that recently took place . This was due mainly to timing and wanting to help you all plan some unique Christmas decor. But now it is time for the big reveal. No one loves a before and after more than I do. So drum roll please!
I have partnered with Joybird to share with you all my living room redo.
Living Room Redo – Pink Sectional:
Heres the before: (sorry about the iphone pictures and clutter)
But first, I wanted to walk you all through my process when I am redoing a room. It typically takes me deciding on one statement piece that the design will revolve around. This just so happened to be a Joybird Blush Mixology Lewis Pink Sectional. As soon as this was ordered I knew I had around 6 weeks to get everything together and have it ready for Christmas.
First thing I did was head to Pinterest and start pulling ideas.
Over the past couple years my decor style has changed quite a bit but one thing that has remained is that I love to mix styles and incorporate new with vintage and high end with budget friendly. I love the ease of switching out trendy things from typical department stores but also love the hunt for something unique and classic and I always shop from within my house first. This room was more difficult for me because I knew I wanted to change things up and add color. Clearly adding a pink sectional was about the wildest thing I did in 2018 and I couldn’t be happier about how it turned out. I wanted something other than the traditional oatmeal, grey, white etc and pink is basically a neutral so it worked. Plus this isn’t a regular pink. It has depth and texture.
One thing I kept hinting to my husband was how much I wanted to DIY some board and batten and hang some crown molding. We had some really beautiful wood work in our first house and for some reason they really skimped on this one. So after dropping several hints my anti-diy hubs said “I have Stone Oak Builders coming out on Thursday to do the wood work and trim then paint afterwards. So you need to pick a color and pattern for them to do. Oh and I’ll be gone.”

First thought: Merry Christmas to me!
Second thought: I have 48 hours to pick a color that will cover 75% of my open concept downstairs and the pattern of woodwork on my very prominent accent wall. Oh no problem! Thankfully I work great under pressure and Im decent about making decisions. After bringing home 15 whites and painting them on every wall in the house I ended up going with:
Walls Cloud White by Benjamin Moore
Trim Linen White. Our house is only a couple years old so we didn’t have this painted and left it as it was. But did use it to determine what color to do the wall.
Our Joybird Lewis Pink Sectional was delivered and set up while on vacation, what a pleasant surprise when we walked in those doors. I immediately knew I made the right decision, but looked at hubs for his first impression. When I tell people we have a pink couch, most peoples reaction goes something like this “omg, my husband would never let me have a pink couch.” Truth be told I narrowed it down to three choices and let him pick final, he actually picked Blush Mixology. He is a girl dad through and through.
It looks super busy right now with the Christmas decorations up. Once those come down things will be uncluttered and clean looking. I’ll update this post but until then this is what we are working with!
Things Purchased New for this Space

Pillows
Sofa Table: this was a budget find. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and l love how it looks and for this price its a no brainer. I’ll probably add a tufted bench or stools underneath it for extra seating.
Curtains: I knew instantly I wanted taupe velvet against these white walls. Went budget friendly on these because I needed 12 panels and that adds up. For the price, these are great. But once you see and touch nice ones, there is no comparing.
Items Relocated from Around House
Rug: Fring, sequins, texture make this beige rug not so boring, right? And yes, its easy to vacuum
Remember these? I wrote about them here when I scored the leather ones for $9 each. We move them around to be extra seating or tables or ottomans. We could uses a coffee table but I kind of like the space. After Christmas we might add one back in.
Knick Knacks as my husband likes to call them.
Items that Were Part of Previous Living Room
Recliner. Not my first choice, but on a previous living room redo, hubs requested one and honestly he doesn’t ask for much when I decorate. A traditional recliner wasn’t going to cut it. This one works!
Ordering a couch on the internet can be scary. But Joybird made it super easy to feel confident when making a purchase like this.
