There is something about Fall makes me want to redecorate all the rooms. I suppose part of the reason is that I know in the coming months we will be inside more plus holidays are coming and decorating is at an all-time high. So the week my oldest started kindergarten I decided to start on projects I thought about over the summer but didn’t want to take time to do. First up….
My Guest Bathroom Update
Now typically bathrooms are the least of my concerns but this bathroom is our guest bathroom and is directly off the foyer so it is used more than most bathrooms. Not to mention they can typically be done affordably and quickly. So if you get mildly distracted like myself, they are perfect. We built our house a couple years ago so cosmetic changes are really the only things that NEED to be done.
Black and white is my preferred color combinations. But I see bold patterns and colors and want to attempt them. So this bathroom update was my first attempt at combining the above. The walls throughout my whole house are a lovely shade of a very neutral builder greige. I am slowly looking at changing that and this was the first room. I want to add color, texture, and yet keep my black and white as my comfort in different areas around the house.
Bathroom Update Inspiration Anthropologie Agneta Shower Curtain: $88
Two years ago I pinned this exact shower curtain. It has taken me entirely too long to pull the trigger on it. But it was love at first site. I love a mixture of “splurge and steals” when redoing a room and for this bathroom, the shower curtain is the splurge and my inspiration for the room. I find redos are easiest when you find one thing you are in love with and then build off that one item. Having a focus is super important.
Once I find my inspiration, I go to Pinterest and create a board like this one to put everything together. If you aren’t following me on Pinterest you totally should because this is where all the sneak peaks happen.
Check out my DIY FAUX SUBWAY TILE post to see how it was done.
PAINT
Ceilings are Inkwell by Benjamin Moore and I even used that same paint to paint the air register so it didn’t stick out.
Walls and “Tiles”are Cloud White by Benjamin Moore
Trim I didn’t paint, I just kept it as is and used to pick out a white for the wall that coordinated. Linen White.
Grout is Delray Gray by Benjamin Moore.

Toiletries
Plush towels and high-quality toiletries make a guest bath complete. So I stocked up using my Public Goods subscription. I love that they are pretty enough to sit out on the counter. Affordable enough to restock after every guest and only contain safe and healthy ingredients. Not to mention, they are a new company and I love to see success amongst the new guys. Oh did I mention, they just show up on my front porch. No need to run to the store.
Good job! Thanks for sharing your experience.
