Since creating my business several years ago I have learned that in order to reap rewards, you have to take risks and you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable. As scary as these risks appear at the time, the potential outcome should outweigh those fears. At the beginning when things were so new I would sit back and overthink decisions I needed to make in order to take my business to the next level, I wouldn’t trust my gut and I would totally stall. Then I would get tunnel vision from looking at other peoples success and wonder why I am not there yet or thinking that that’s never going to be me. But with each crazy scary decision, I have realized they keep getting easier and I keep gaining confidence that this is exactly where I should be.
Easy Car Buying Tips with Autotrader
As a mom of two girls, it is in my job description to take these two world-changers and teach them to dominate. Gone are the days where our dads make the decisions until our husbands do and I want my girls to feel empowered to take risks and do things that scare them so naturally, it is only fair for me to speak what I teach.
So recently my husband and I sat down to discuss what kind of car I was going to buy next in order to start saving for it. I hadn’t really thought about it much, to be honest, I am not really a car person. I’m so much more logical and practical than my husband is, especially when it comes to cars, that I told him I needed some time and I would think about it. So naturally I did what any millennial would do and I hit the internet.
Kelley Blue Book Price Advisor on Autotrader is now seamlessly integrated on the Autotrader website ensuring you’re getting the best deal when searching for cars.
So, first of my car buying tips, Autotrader.
I plugged in the things that were important to me. I am price sensitive. I prefer to spend my money on travels and home redos than something that gets me from point A to point B. But since I’ve got kids, it needs to be reliable and gas efficient. I plan on having it for awhile so I want it new, but not brand new. Once I had my criteria laid out, it pulled the cars that fit and I was instantly sold on one just like THIS ONE. Honestly, I would have expected them to be out of my budget so I would have never considered them. I have always loved them and I thought it would be fun to drive especially now while my girls are young and we don’t have as much stuff to cart all over town.
Autotrader was so easy to use and really helped me find the features that were important in allowing me to walk away feeling good about the situation. Not to mention, being able to shop for a car from home is so much better than going dealer to dealer, right? So the make and model was picked out. What’s next?
I was able to narrow down my selection and reach out to the different dealers right away through Autotrader and chat instantly. Once I was ready I set up a time to come look at the vehicle. Thanks to Autotrader, and the recent addition of the Kelley Blue Book Price Advisor on Autotrader listings I was able to compare pricing to other cars around me and make a well-informed decision so walking into a dealership I felt like I had all the knowledge I needed to negotiate and close a deal.
Which is good because my husband said:
“I’ll just sit in the car with the kids while you do this.”
Say what? Apparently, he doesn’t like to wheel and deal as much as I do.
Until recently, car buying WAS also one of those tasks I always assumed would be daunting especially for a woman – but thanks to Autotrader, and Kelley Blue Book Price Advisor I recently found out it doesn’t have to be! Finally, I get to check off “buy and sell your own car by yourself” officially making me an adult. Now when that monthly car payment comes, can I just go back to being a teen? K thanks!
