The saying “I need a vacation to recover from my vacation” rings so true for so many of us mommas, right? As much as I love traveling and experiencing new places with my kids, I typically come home exhausted and needing a break. So scheduling a staycation following a vacation is a must. Or if a vacation is not in your future than a staycation is the only thing saving you from insanity. Now before you mention a lack of funds or staycation days hear me out. A perfect staycation can take place at your home with a little planning and no need to request time off. And thanks to Babblebox for making this staycation so much easier to pull off after a week in San Diego with the family. My staycation essentials were literally waiting for me at the door when I arrived home.
Staycation Essentials from Babblebox:
Bali: Comfort Revolution Bra
The first of staycation essentials is comfortable clothes. Vacation clothes are fun and have their place, but let’s be honest, after decades of wearing underwire, pushup bras, strapless bras, or sticky pasties nothing sets the mood of relaxation like a Bali: Comfort Revolution Bra. When the ladies are tired and need a break, but you breastfed kids and yo-yo dieted your whole life, braless isn’t an option, the Bali: Comfort Revolution Bra is exactly what you need. The best part about this bra, it goes from day to night all while keeping you cool yet contained. No more scaring the neighbors!
Before kids: Choosing a vacation location based on spa offerings and amenities while spending the first part of the morning at the spa.
After kids: What is a Spa? I don’t think our motel has one.
When planning my staycations, I def include a spa treatment or two. And because dance class is expensive, they aren’t done at the local spa but instead in my bathtub after kids go to bed if I’m lucky to stay awake that late, or if I convince hubs to take the kids to go get lunch because I haven’t gone grocery shopping yet and everyone is going to starve if they don’t leave now.
Our hair and skin are so badly affected by the summer heat, sun, alcohol consumption, and excessive carbs that I typically try to concentrate on those two areas first. Plus my kids are also really good at giving me a massage by poking me while repeating mom every couple seconds that a massage is never on my staycation list.
BELLAME: Acqua Lumiere Hydrating Moisturizer & Eye Cream
The best way to fool everyone is with bright eyes and skin. Both the Acqua Lumiere Hydrating Moisturizer & Eye Cream are super rich and moisturizing. And for a limited time they are offering a FREE set of six ultra-luxe BELLAME bamboo sourced washcloths with the purchase of The ACQUA LUMIERE COLLECTION. Gift Valued at $22. Staycation spa treatment just got an upgrade.
OMM: Thickening Hair Mask & Thickening Oil
While soaking in the tub I apply the OMM: Thickening Hair Mask and like to leave it on for maximum results. With as much heat, chemicals, and elements my hair goes through I need a product that helps strengthen and nourish it and OMM: Thickening Hair Mask does just that. I have a lot of hair but specifically look for products that help thicken and protect it, because who doesn’t love big hair? I follow the OMM: Thickening Hair Mask with this OMM: Thickening Oil to protect my hair from heat and damage. These two products together have helped strength my hair so much.
With a holistic approach to hair care, OMM brings holistic, Farm-to-Beauty right to your bathroom at home. Looks like you just got upgrade to the deluxe at home spa package.

Faustino I Gran Reserva
Faustino I Gran Reserva pairs so perfectly with a spa day that I recommend you pour yourself a glass and enjoy. With 150 years of tradition and expertise in the world of wine, you know this is a good wine to keep on hand as an impromptu staycation essentials. With fruity and spicy notes Faustino I Gran Reserva covers all the bases. Throw some gruyere on a plate and you are in for a treat.
Hair. Check. Skin. Check. Mental relaxation. Check. Now you need some sun for your soul. Grab your wine and a good book and head outside. You can even leave your mask on for a little bit longer.
My Ex Life Book
My Ex-Life written by Stephen McCauley and published by Flatiron Books is a story about Julie and David who broke up years ago for very obvious reasons but loosely remained – in touch. It is during Julie’s second divorce that they find themselves living under one roof. It’s a charming family drama about the families we create, more than the ones we’re born into and how we grow and change, yet remain connected to our past selves.
Now depending on how long I have sent my husband and kids away determines whether I need one or both of these. But I like to keep them both handy because after chasing kids up and down the beach or at the amusement park the last thing I want to do is get up from my spot on the patio.
Erin’s Faces: Deet Free Mosquito Repellent & Sunstick SPF 30
I love the simplicity of the Sunstick SPF 30 plus it leaves a light, clean smell, and non-greasy. Best part, no greasy fingers to ruin the pages of your book you are feverishly flipping.
Nothing will ruin a staycation like those pesky little mosquitos so this is a must when the sun starts to set. Easy to apply and diet free makes this a must!
